EWA awards transmission network expansion contracts - 09 Feb, 2010
MEED reported that Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority has awarded several contracts as part of its 2011 to 2007 transmission network expansion programme.

The local Kooheji Contractors has won BHD 12 million contracts for the installation of 220 kV transmission lines and associated civil works. A second local contractor, Ahmed Mansoor al Ali Company has won a BHD 6.7 million contract covering civil works for a group of 220 kV substations.

Finally, Al-Hoty Analytical Services also local has won BHD 29,830 deal for a site study ahead of civil works as part of the 66 kV and 200 kV network expansion programme.

There are now 16 220 kV substations operating in the country. The 2007 to 2011 transmission network upgrade programme will expand the network by adding 11 more 220 kV substations and approximately 40 more 66 kV substations.
